Dr. Josh Scacco, a professor from Purdue University talked to my class two weeks ago to discuss the benefits and consequences of social media. I learned that Dr. Scacco was doing some research on the like button (mostly know from Facebook) and how it is reflected upon controversial issues. Users may not like a post because its controversial even though they understand and appreciate the post itself. Scacco and his students are doing research to see how replacing a like button with a respect button will change peoples views of posts. I think this is interesting because producing a late night television show always deals with controversial issues. We produce comedic entertainment, but sometimes are audience may feel uncomfortable laughing or smiling at a controversial event or skit. Saturday Night Live, a comedy skit show produced a segment about Donald Trumps controversial issues against immigration and how it was to be decided via a People's Court episode. It was very entertaining but was able to address the issue of immigration which is of hot topic in the United States right now. Whether you are republican or democrat, it is a hilarious skit and should be admired for its entertaining values. It just goes to show that even if you don;t like a skit, you can respect it for its comedic nature.
